The Problem

Microserve were approached by as specialist Drupal consultants. Their current Drupal 6 website was fast reaching a point where it would be increasingly difficult and costly to maintain, as support within the Drupal community for version 6 was nearing the end of its life.

Additionally, the existing website wasn’t responsive and was difficult to navigate on mobile and tablet devices, which lead to a poor user experience.

Our Solution

After a thorough consultation with the client, and having conducted a full Drupal Site Audit on their existing site, our recommendation was to build a brand new website in Drupal 7.

The new website was complex, but our experienced project manager lead a team of developers to create bespoke solutions, and ensure the seamless migration of over one million items of content (and user comments) into the new site... no easy task! Throughout the project our focus was also on optimising the performance of the site, attracting even more traffic.  

As is a high-profile website within the cycling community, we worked closely with the client and our front-end design team to ensure user engagement, user experience and site SEO were at the heart of the new website. Throughout the project our rigorous process of on-going user testing ensured we remained true to these core aims.  

Since launching the site the number of visits has increased by 20% and the average bounce rate has dropped by 12%. Furthermore, analytics show Mobile users have benefited greatly from the new mobile-first approach with an average time-on-page per user increase of 26% and a significant reduction in bounce rate of 21%.
