We’re looking for an ambitious Technical Director to ensure that Microserve’s technical offering is innovative, compelling and effective.

About the role

You’ll play a key role within the senior management team, steering the technical direction of the company and leading our experienced technical team. We’re looking for someone with credibility and gravitas, someone that has broad technical experience and understands the commercial pressures of a digital agency environment.

We’ll expect you to lead or make major contributions in the following areas:

Technical

  • Oversee development standards and processes
  • Own our technical roadmap and make decisions on new technologies
  • Oversee and contribute to technical scoping and discovery work
  • Oversee and contribute to solutions architecture
  • Solve technical problems with creativity and commercial awareness

Commercial

  • Assist with new business development and pitching
  • Contribute to technical proposals
  • Engage in speaking opportunities
  • Create compelling content to demonstrate thought leadership

Strategy / Leadership

  • Provide vision and direction for our technical offering
  • Communicate brilliantly, with our team and with clients
  • Motivate and inspire our technical team
  • Mentor and develop your direct reports and more junior members of the team

About you

The following skills and experience are a must

  • At least 5 years’ experience as a senior-level developer
  • Development expertise in PHP-based platforms
  • Experience of working in a digital agency environment
  • Broad experience of technical projects, platforms and systems
  • Brilliant at communicating complex technical concepts to all types of audiences
  • Creative approach to technical problem-solving
  • Strong written and face-to-face communication skills
  • Excellent commercial acumen
  • Experience of leading and developing a technical team
