The last six months have been really exciting for Microserve. We’re growing in size and stature, and we’re cementing our reputation as one of the strongest agencies in our sector.

As part of this exciting period, we’ve won a number of long-term accounts with world-renowned clients, which we believe offers our business huge and untapped opportunities ripe for the taking.

With this in mind, we are looking for an Account Director to join our client services team. The role will be business development focused and offers an exciting opportunity for the right person to really make their mark, by establishing long-lasting relationships with a handful of strategic accounts, working closely with them to unearth new opportunities, adding significant value to our business going forward.

This is a very important hire for Microserve, and the right person is likely to currently be an experienced Client/Account Manager, Account Director, or Business Development Manager (operating at Account Director level), or someone who loves relationship building and has the quick thinking that’s needed in a new business environment.  The important thing is that you will enjoy working strategically, thinking outside the box and building trusted relationships quickly through empathy and delivery.

About the job

You will be reporting into the Director - Client Partnerships, to plan out the new business strategy and course of action with a handful of our most strategically important clients. Once agreed, your role will be to take ownership of its execution.

The aim of this new role is to make the very most out of the opportunities that lie in front of us and to unearth and identify future work we may not have on our radar.   

We are looking for someone who has a ‘passion’ for delivering great client services:

  • Working with the Director - Client Partnerships, to create, own and deliver the strategy to identify new business opportunities with a handful of Microserve’s most strategically important clients.

  • Be the primary point of contact for clients.

  • Work closely with the Head of Operations and Digital Producers to ensure work in flight is delivered to client expectations, and to thoroughly scope out any new business opportunities ensuring commercial viability before presenting solutions to clients.  

  • Create responses to new business opportunities, defining clear deliverables with supporting cost proposals.

  • Think proactively throughout the process of how additional Microserve services can add value to the client.

  • Manage and report against new business targets set by the business.  

About you

The following skills and experience are a must:

  • Background in Account Management (with new business mindset), or Business Development (with an emphasis on Account Management).

  • Client service focus.

  • Strategic thinker.

  • Achievement based.

  • A sense of confidence and autonomy - with the gravitas to operate at a senior level.  

  • Ability to make decisions quickly and with authority.

  • Strong written skills.

  • A natural ‘people person’ with a positive attitude and energetic communication style.  

  • Have a good sense of humour.

  • A (relatively) clean driving licence, as you will be expected to attend external meetings as and when required.  

It would also be great if you have:

  • Understanding of Agile development principles.

  • Experience of working in a busy web development agency

  • A track record of delivering upsell in a similar role.
